Is this weight water or fat?

Posted by rainbowlight on September 17, 2002, at 1:49:59

Has anyone put on water weight with any of the meds? I noticed I feel "puffy" in my hands and feet. I have gained 30 pounds on the Zoloft, but hate to go off it because it makes me feel great. Any ideas how to get the weight off? How to get rid of the bloating? I just bought a treadmill? Will exercise be enough? or do I have to look for a new med?

i gained 50 pounds on zoloft. i couldn't lose it until i switched to paxil. i have anxiety and depression. the paxil worked better for anxiety and alright for depression. i think it is a stronger med than zoloft in general. to lose the weight i went on a low-carbohydrate diet for a couple months. i like the carbohydrate addict's diet (a book)the best. it allows you to eat whatever you want for supper. i have lost 25 pounds and i haven't exercised at all. i would recommend exercise though, i still mean to get around to it. but exercise in general won't get that weight off by itself. you have to change your diet and rev up your metabolism. i can now cheat and eat some carbs and i am still losing weight. you just have to stick to the diet very closely the first two months or so. good luck!
