I need to adopt your positivity, or positive sexuality. That is not meant to sound weird. You are up early? Or late?

Fat is Womanly

In reply to I'm physically shutting out my husband, posted by saw on November 5, 2004, at 0:38:18

I'm going to say this no matter what kind of pot gets stirred up. It's time for us to admit that yes, fat is comforting, and yes, fat IS actually attractive, and yes, we're nuts to think otherwise.
If we were living in the wild, not this what *we* call civilization ... which babe would be more attractive? The (a) weak, malnourished, unable to feed her young, elbow-you-in-the-ribs, always cold-and-shivering-all-night-long bone-rack, or (b) the nourishing, voluptuous, supple, creamy-skinned (think, layer of fat glowing under the skin, think, "lit from within") soft, keep-you-warm-at-night maiden ...? Historically speaking I do believe (b) wins out every time. But I'm not slamming us thin people, either. We do have our good qualities, too. I just have to really think about what they are ... we mostly look all right in clothes, but no matter what we're wearing our feet always look too big.

I'm up late, Sabrina. I live in Canada, you know, the land of the frozen north or whatever? We're not frozen today though we're just a touch of ol' England ... foggy outside, and in.

I finally found the ideal way to embrace my um, womanly curves - ok, bulges, when I started to learn to belly dance. The dance begs you to appreciate each and every part of our bodies as the beautiful things they are. I'm going to be giving my unsuspecting book club members some lessons when they meet at my home this week.
Everybody looks gorgeous twirling a veil around their heads.

I couldn't (shouldn't) belly dance. I would knock anyone out who are in the near vicinity. With my tummy.

This is a side to you that I didn't expect. Good to know!!

LOL! Having a belly is a prerequisite for belly dancing. I like the dressing up part. Tops, harem pants, belts, veils, I love it all. I have only ever done dance for myself. It's not the kind of activity I "perform" for my husband, that seems to take away from the beauty of it for me.

My post disappeared AGAIN!!

Yes, but my size belly? I think not.

I think you will enjoy "Sarah Brightman Harem" CD. It has a very eastern theme and some of her attire throughout is just beautiful. I have watched all the videos and the making of the DVD etc.

You can also see here. http://www.sarah-brightman.com/frame.html

Oh, Dr Bob, in case you are wondering, I am very passionate about Sarah and have a very special *relationship* with all my cd's.

PS. I like the way this thread turned. I'm not thinking about shutting poor hubby out at the moment!

NOT cheapy things. How can you feel good with cheapy things?

You deserve at least the same quality as you did when you were thin. I would say you deserve more - for fighting the good fight.

It's a funny group, that's for sure. We have a bossy person who's the unofficial head of the group. She calls any new members and gives them a speech about the responsibility of being in the club; that we actually discuss the book; and the only acceptable reasons for not attending are imminent death or being out of town. I was on hiatus for a year when I worked up the nerve to go back to it.

Last month it was "A Room With A View" by Virginia Woolf. I choked on that one. Also have read "The Life of Pi", "Middlesex", "Desert Queen", and "Fast Food Nation". The caveat is that the book be available in paperback to keep costs down.

Fast Food Nation is the only one of those that I've read, last summer, and wow. Now I have trouble even eating popcorn, and every truck I see with ConAgra on it or every product that's theirs I want to jump up and down and make a big scene. Oh well.

I really feel a part of the babble family today. I love looking at a thread I started and reading the support, the understanding, seeing that it is ok to change direction and that it makes me smile. And then when I see it is quite long, I feel all chuffed and proud too!

Thanks guys.

LOL! I must have sounded so ungrateful and whiney.

What I really meanty (that was a typo, but made me smile) cheapy was that I really will lose this extra weight and didn't want to spend too much on my fatty wardrobe because I want to spoil myself when I get my thinny wardrobe back.

But I relent, I am going to buy one, only one, outrageously priced feel good, fighting good fight, I feel sexy item and smile when it starts to hang like a sack.

A bit more positive maybe??

How 'bout just getting comfortable with you NOW, instead of looking forward to getting "skinny" again??

I think that's what everyone is getting at, here, Sabrina!

You will have your unconditionally wonderful sex life back when YOU accept YOU. You husband already accepts YOU, he's just waiting for you to catch up...

AuntieMel was asking you to validate yourself as you are now by spending a little money on you. You are worth the good stuff as you are.

I am not sure where I heard this (maybe off a movie or something) but: it is funny how what is pleasing to the eye can be different from what is pleasing to the touch.

IMHO slender people wear clothes well etc, but when you need a hug cuddly is good. I cringe when fat rolls are grabbed too, but for some reason he finds this amusing...

Sorry I was so late joining in this thread. (((Sabrina))) I too know how hard it can be to feel like a baby whale (I got very big on Seroquel and Epilim). I felt disgusting: but even though I found it really hard to bring myself to believe it, I was the only one that felt that way.

Women get such mixed messages about needing to look like pre-pubescent kids. But what is pleasing to the touch...

Geez Louise alexandra now I feel really bad about being too skinny.

I'm getting a bit of an ass on me though lately so I guess that's good. Or, it could be just the way I'm looking at or seeing myself, as my clothes seem to fit just the same. Wish I truly knew.

Sorry to be such a prude, but please don't use language that could offend others.

If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, or are interested in alternative ways of expressing yourself, please see the FAQ:

Follow-ups regarding these issues should be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration. They, as well as replies to the above post, should of course themselves be civil.

I too was called on the carpet for this word.
I was celebrating my @ss. But we really must be prudish.
Let's call it something else...shall we. I wrote a whole poem dedicated to this @ss name problem.
I guess it should be *ss?
Or a**?
Or a*s?
I really don't understand. It's not being cruel or unkind.
Take heart, Susan we are in this together.

ode to my Glutinous maximus

I have a handsome derriere
I strut when we go a walkin
some say it looks like two beavers going at it in a sack
my buttocks exploits my black tights
many have marveled about my backside
some have reached out to touch my behind
I say ooh....
My eyes flash a wicked grin
this is my bottom property
I glimpse my cheeks as I stand in reflection
sometimes my fanny seems to be preoccupied
other times the hams are perky
always hiney is in deep thought
why my posterior is positively maneuvering
often I feel a little behind
but the fundament has flexibility
I get on my haunches
thinking about my heinie
which can lead me to the tail end
hey butt why make a rumpus

Jai, who is really shy about her **s

I still love that poem. It touched me and I mostly avoid poetry.

"I strut when we go a walkin
some say it looks like two beavers going at it in a sack"

Are you a fan of Walt Whitman? (just about the only poet I read)
