ARGH! My Mom gets so annoying sometimes

Posted by Deneb on July 17, 2005, at 19:27:04

My Mom just came upstairs to look over my shoulder and see what I was doing.

I just said, "Typing stuff...", then she asks, "What are you typing? Who are you typing too?"

I said, "Friends."

"Who are they? Do you know them?"

I lied and said, "Some I know, some I don't."

She said, "What do you talk about with people you don't know?"

"Fun stuff."

"But you don't even know them! You have to be careful, I've read that people online get others to join cults and stuff."

"Oh please! I know better than that!"

"No, really, I've read that there are some sickos online who get people to commit suicide."

"Com'on...stuff like that doesn't happen! (I lied here.)

She then stared some more (she doesn't read much English at all, thank goodness.) There have been times where I was looking at suicide sites...good thing she can't read!

Argh! She annoys me so much. I hate it when she butts in like this and starts asking so many questions. I'm a grown adult, I can do whatever I want to do.

I just hate it when she checks up on me sometimes...like she's afraid I'm going to kill myself or something.

Aaahhh! I'm so annoyed! Why can't she just leave me alone! I'm so glad I don't have a cell phone!

Can you lock your door? I absolutely hate it when people read over my shoulder when I'm on the computer!!!

Now Deneb, I'm sure if you read your mums job description closely I think you'll see burried in the small print that when it comes to mothers you have about as much right to privacy as you do from the FBI or NSA and that they reserve the right to be constantly annoying and embarrasing under the guise of caring and kindness.

No, there is no lock. I really have no privacy whatsoever...my parents come and go into my bedroom even when I'm sleeping...I wake up to find that my blinds have been opened or the fan has been turned off etc.

I know my Mom really really loves me and my sister. I'm sure my Dad does as well, but he isn't as annoying.

I just wish sometimes that my Mom would choose to find some happiness for herself. She literally lives for "us" (my sister and me). I have no doubt she would risk her life to save ours. She sacrifices everything for us. I wish she didn't do this...it makes me feel guilty. She told me that her own life is basically worthless without me and my sister. Everything she does is for us...that's a lot of pressure. I wish she would give herself permission to be "selfish" once in a while.
